Credit granted by banks in Oman rises to RO 30.8 billion

By the end of April 2024, the total amount of credit extended by the Omani banking industry has grown by 2.6 per cent to RO 30.8 billion.

According to data released by the Central Bank of Oman, by the end of April 2024, the amount of credit extended to the private sector had increased by 3.2 per cent to a total of RO 25.9 billion.

Information about how it was distributed across other sectors shows that, as of the end of April 2024, non-financial companies held the highest part, at 45.7 per cent, followed by the individual sector at 45.1 per cent. The remainder was allocated, with 5.6 per cent going to the financial companies sector and the rest percentage going to other sectors at a rate of 3.6 per cent .

By the end of April 2024, the total deposits in the banking system had grown by 10.4% to RO 30 billion.

By the end of April 2024, private sector deposits in the banking system had increased by 12.4% to RO 20.1 billion.

When examining how the private sector’s total deposit base was distributed among its various sectors, the data show that the individual sector held the largest share — roughly 50.6 per cent —followed by the sectors of non-financial companies and financial companies, at 29.7 and 16.8 per cent, respectively. Regarding the proportion, other sectors received the remaining 2.8%.
