Oman’s electricity and water production increase in February

The total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of February 2024 recorded an increase of 16.3 per cent, reaching 5365 gigawatt-hours compared to 4611.3 gigawatt-hours in the same period of the previous year.

 

Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, and Ad Dhahirah recorded a total production of 3312.5 gigawatt-hours.

 

The total production in the Muscat Governorate decreased by 94.2 per ent to reach 1.1 gigawatt-hours, while it increased in the Dhofar Governorate by 12.4 per cent to reach 655 gigawatt-hours.

 

The total production in the North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah governorates increased by 36.5 per cent to reach 1292.5 gigawatt-hours, while the total production in the Al Wusta Governorate decreased by 77 per cent to reach 11.2 gigawatt-hours. In the Musandam Governorate, the total production increased by 118.2 per cent, reaching 92.8 gigawatt-hours.

 

The statistics also indicated that the net electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of February 2024 increased by 15.9 per cent, reaching 5171.6 gigawatt-hours.

 

On another note, the statistics said that the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 2.6 per cent, reaching approximately 81, 283,200 cubic metres by the end of February 2024, compared to 79,261,600 cubic metres in the same period of 2023.
