The Founder’s Journey
Essa Bin Mohammed Al Zedjali’s story is one of resilience and relentless pursuit of excellence, a legacy reflected in the foundation and growth of Essaco Group. Born in Muscat in 1939, he completed his primary education at AL Saidiyah School in 1953 before continuing his studies in Karachi, Pakistan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His professional career began at ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia (1954-1956), followed by a significant tenure at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), where he led administrative operations in Fahud from 1956 to 1958. His expertise extended to Kuwait, where he served as the Head of the Manuscripts Department at the Ministry of Post, Telephones, and Telegraphs for nearly three decades. Additionally, he played pivotal roles in Abu Dhabi and Oman, including as Secretary of the Government Oil Department and Director of Consular Affairs.
In 1975, his entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of AL Essa Printing and Publishing House, now known as Muscat Press and Publishing House. This venture was instrumental in founding the Times of Oman, the nation’s first English-language newspaper, which continues to thrive under his stewardship as Editor-in-Chief. Through Essaco Group, his vision has left a profound impact on Oman’s economic and cultural landscape.
