Essa Bin Mohammed Al Zedjali is founder of Essaco Group.

 

Born in Muscat in 1939. In 1953 completed his primary education at AL Saidiyah School, Muscat. Further studies were in Karachi, Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Worked in ARAMCO, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1954 to 1956. Joined Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) as In charge of Administration in Fahud (1956 – 1958). Was head of the Manuscripts Department at the Ministry of Post, Telephones and Telegraphs in the State of Kuwait (1959 – 1986). Worked as secretary in the Government Oil Department in Abu Dhabi (1969 – 1972). In February 1972, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman as Director of Consular Affairs and was appointed as the first Consul-General of the Sultanate in Bombay (1974 – 1979). In 1975, founded AL Essa Printing and Publishing House (currently, the Muscat Press and Publishing House). Founded the Times of Oman, the first English newspaper in the Sultanate and continues as its Editor-in-Chief.

Member of the Consultative Council for two terms (1985 – 1989), member of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) for eight years, member of the Commercial Disputes Committee for six years. Honorary Consul-general of the Philippines in Oman (1989 – 1994). Member of the World Association of Newspapers and the Gulf Newspapers Union and Chairman of the Board of Muscat Press and Publishing House (MPPH).
